This sounds like either arcing, burning insulation or lint caught in the heating element of the dryer. Since the air flow should be from the heating unit to the dryer drum, it is hard to see how lint could get there unless it is leaking from the exhaust duct, getting into the area under the dryer and being sucked into the heating unit from there.

12/3/2009· Over that last 23 months my wife and I will occasionally enter the laundry room to discover the smell of Natural Gas. The laundry room door is kept closed and this odor appears only when the dryer has not been running. Other than this intermittent odor the dryer functions without any issues.

Also after drying when it has sat for awhile when you open the door you smell gas and now you can also smell outside of it as well. We checked all the lines for leaks but did not see any. Model

6/8/2010· There is a strong gas smell coming only from the dryer exhaust of my 2502 Gas dryer. There is no odor inside of the house only from the dryer exhaust during an active cycle. I have discontinued use until I can get a handle on this issue.

· ok i just got a old Rinnai natural gas heater. it has no smell when it''s off, so not leaking gas while off but when it''s on. the room smells a little like gas.. just very very lightly but if i put my face right infront of the heat air vent...the air blows out of the heater can kill me within seconds. must be no oxygen. so the question is... is it normal to smell abit? place still smell ok just ...

I bet you had one of those products used in the home? Prior to this, the dryer odor didn''t exist and it will be gone as soon as the product dries. Best thing to do is ventilate the house as best as possible. For the dryer, once the drying cycle is completed, set the control to AIR FLUFF for ten minutes. This will clear the odor from the clothes.

They came out and found 2 slight gas leaks. One was by shut off valve and the other the other tenants had a gas dryer and never capped it off. and gas was coming out of there. .35 what ever that means. since he did all that we have not had that funny smell now for over a week. Good luck.
